So, I was listening to an Internet radio stream tonight and Ozzy's Bark at the Moon came on. I was just thinking….back when that song came out it was the hardest of hard core. It was "Mamas hide your babies!" music. Whole towns banned Black Sabbath from performing there. Ozzy was just one step below Satan on the evliness scale.
Now it's the kind of song you hear in the background when you're picking your suit up from the dry-cleaner.
So, that begs the question, "What will 'Hard Core;" be in 20 years? If Insane Clown Posse becomes what you hear in the elevator at the mall, what will the kids be listening to at whatever their equivalent of a rave is?
"Allright kids, we've got a hot show tonight. We'll start off with Heavy Machinery, and then Niagara Falls will take the stage! After that, it's Jet Engine Noise rockin' the house!"
One has to wonder.
The accepted of the norm continues to expand and receed belive it or not the Beach Boys were banned for “In my room” and “Wouldnt it be nice”. Frank Sinatra was considered risque’ for the lyrics to many of his songs and the Beatles were thought of as the down fall of society. In more modern times the Judas Priest was blamed for the suicide of a young troubled teen, probably just nightmares of Rob Halford in the leather cod piece. Mark we are just becoming the older guys we made fun of 20 years ago.
